Our Goal

To increase understanding and assist a young person (12-18yrs) experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis.

  • Comparison of typical adolescent development vs. developing a mental health challenge
  • Recognizing signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge or crisis
  • The importance of early intervention and hope for recovery
  • Risk Factors and Protective Factors
  • How to apply the five step Action Plan (ALGEE) to assist a young person experiencing a challenge or crisis
  • How to approach and engage a young person who may be experiencing a challenge or crisis
  • Explore mental health challenges and crises, such as; anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, suicide, eating disorders, psychosis and substance use disorders – and how you can apply mental health first aid to assist a young person.
  • Resources available to connect a young person with a mental health challenge to appropriate help.
